Avetik Alaverdyan: Color as a Passion

2015

he Institute for Contemporary Art in collaboration with “Galentz Museum” presents an exhibition titled “Avetik Alaverdyan: Color as a Passion”. The opening will take place on November 13, 2015 at 7pm. The exhibition will be accessible to the public until December 23, 2015 (18 Galentz str, Yerevan).

The exhibition is a course work of Lilith Antonyan and Tereza Davtyan, 2013/15 school –year students of Curatorial Module Art Criticism & Curatorial Studies School (head of course work is N. Karoyan).

The Concept of the Exhibition

The exhibition aims to focus on the interrelationship of modern and contemporary arts, its inner issues, differences and controversy.

Living in such a small town as Yeghvard, Avetik Alaverdyan’s glance is directed at the past and the nature. It seems there must be more peacefulness here, but the artist’s passion for color comes to disturb the quiet themes. As a result, his brush creates images full of emotional contradictions. We think these contradictions reveal the tensions of the modern art retreating in the contemporary reality.
