On July 7, 8pm you are cordially invited to the opening of Kima Gyarakyan’s “Detached and…” series exhibition curated by Arusyan Hovhannisyan. The artist almost always strives to break the accepted rules.
The course of art history is distinguished by the rejection of accepted forms and the establishment of new ones according to periods. Reaching the insatiable desire to overcome accepted artistic forms and create new ones, modern art practices were manifested by the active role of the artist’s mind. In modern art, any gesture of the artist is considered a work of art. In the mentioned state, the question is constantly being asked, “What is art?” And the game continues as long as the artist keeps the essence of the question active with their new thoughts. Kima Gyarakyan, with her “Detached and…” series, attempted to challenge the privileged status of modern art thought relying on the means of painting.
The viewer, while interacting with the works, touches on the moments of “disconnection” of the artist’s mind.
Renunciation of physicality and separation of mind creations does meditative practices that they find their physical expression in the ratio of paper and watercolor.
